I read on the Gmail blog that some serious upgrades to it’s mobile version have taken place and they weren’t kidding. It has been completely overhauled in AJAX and it looks great. If I had one pet peeve on using my iPhone was the application switching. Sure the animation looks awesome, but having to do so quickly became annoying. Well now all my Google apps are centralized one little page on my precious brick of technological goodness. Have a look:

On the HOME TAB you have Google search (with suggestions enabled), image search, Local and and News search. Pretty Snappy
On the GMAIL TAB well obviously it’s your Gmail account and if you’ve setup your Gmail account on your iPhone (under the Mail icon) you’ll notice some differences, as in the picture above. The management has been streamlined, the address book goes to your Gmail address book and not your iPhone address book.
Another awesome feature is the addition of GOOGLE CALENDAR which is synced. I was too happy to see that for my work.
GOOGLE READER is all added but I find it to clumsy on my iPhone for my RSS madness of hundreds of sources to manage. But thankfully there’s a MORE tab where you can manage your tabs and I added the NEWS button instead so I read some news. You can also have access to GOOGLE DOCS and PICASA.
All in all it’s an amazing upgrade but there are a few bugs. Such as when I open a search result and then hit the back page, the Google Home page is reset and the search results are lost. I hope this will be fixed in the near future and I’m sure they will, with the new iPhone coming out.
Gmail for your computer has also received some upgrades. Check out the New! Gmail Labs in the top right corner of the page to add some goodies on your Gmail.

J’ai tellement hate d’avoir mon iPhone!!!!
Soon, Vanou, soon.
J’en veux un bon…. C’pas juste…
What a great graphic for your home page. Did you scan an image off of an iPhone?
No, I ripped it from the Gmail blog page. I don’t have the tools to take such scans of my iPhone.
