Chicoutimi, A Different Kind Of Cold.

First thing I noticed when stepping off the plane in Chicoutimi? -10 in Chicoutimi isn’t the same as -10 in Montreal. The wind is like steel knives. But the air unpolluted, so fresh. Air Canada service was actually human for once, though the baggage check were complete dicks, because they be hunting for tewwowists, be vewy vewy quiet.

I’m staying at Centre de Congrès et Hôtel La Saguenéenne. Heh. Their idea of a Centre de Congrès isn’t the same as Montreal (for obvious reasons) but it is quaint and the service is cool but requires some soundproofing. This is my poolside room. Unfortunately, my room is to far off to the corner to catch a glimpse of the pool, which is fine with me, I won’t hear early birds diving while I catch some Zzs late into the morning tomorrow. (Scrath that, as I edit this post I can hear imbeciles screaming and trashing in the pool… no matter where you, cretins)

The Bed. Not The Toronto Sheraton – the standard to beat, never slept in a comfier bed in my life – but it’ll do

My little Desk to work at. Microwave on top of a very empty mini-bar… tragic.

And in this Hotel, the internet is actually “decent”. Hey what am I surfing?

And there’s a safe in my room. Nifty. I don’t travel much but I’ve never seen that before.

I went to look at the acrobats practicing tonight… talk about impressive. I had vertigo just watching them. And the caterers were on fire today. Glazed pork chops for lunch and braised lamb for supper. Yum!

    I like the stucco, stylish.
And it’s also good to exfoliate your back, very handy. ;)

Lucky you, seeing the artists practicing! Ahhhhh so much envy in me right now!!!

    It’s pretty cool indeed.

Oh, been there before (for a wedding!). The pool is cute when the people using it aren’t annoying dickheads (I speak from experience :P ).

And actually, I was there for the show (amazing!), as I was in town to visit family and they happened to have an extra ticket :) You’re lucky you got to see them practice!!

Well I’m there for every Load-In/Setup and I’ve never gotten to see the show yet. Though in March, which will be March Madness with multiple towns in one week, I’ll probably get my chance.

Really? That’s awful!!! You have to stay backstage or can’t even do that? i hope you get to see it, it’s great (obviously… you can’t go wrong with le Cirque…) :) How do you like working for them?

I just don’t have the time. My setup time is limited between two plane tickets. I like photography (as you can tell from my Flickr feed) but I haven’t had time to take pictures yet either.

Working for them is insane, it’s a circus, it’s relentless and a non stop adventure. Whether I’m traveling or working at the head office. It’s just different from anything else I’ve done career-wise.

Here on the west coast, in Powell River, I’ve got several palm trees in my yard.
