Just a quick reminder to all you Terminator fans, tonight’s the night. Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles starts tonight on Fox. Don’t trust your PVR/DVR because there’s a football game on, so sit down and wait for it to start. John Connor is played by Thomas Dekker which you may remember from Heroes, or you may not. He played Zach. But who cares, because in the end, John Connor is a means to an end. The story is about Sarah Connor and an ass-kicking robot from the future. Sarah Connor is played by Lena Heady. If you are a die hard 300 fan like me, you know who she is. And you know she can play a badass hardcase like Sarah Connor.
Now here’s the kicker, the terminator is a woman, we’ve seen that before, but a schoolmate from John’s school, played by the graceful axe swinging swan Summer Glau, who was River Nothing-in-the-verse-can-stop-me Tam from Firefly/Serenity. After her role as River Tam, if you think she can’t pull off the Terminator, go home. She has a name in the series, her name is Cameron, an obvious homage to the Terminator creator, James Cameron. Let’s not forget the genius who created this story line.
The only thing that can kill this show now is bad execution and bad storytelling. So tonight at 8PM EST on FOX. Sit, pop the pop-corn, keep the Kleenex and clean boxer shorts nearby and prepare to be terminated…

I’ll be watching and paying attention to character roles, their attributes and their sexes.

I liked it actually, except for the fact that the teenager Terminator isn’t credible really… She’s too human like for my taste. Shows too much emotions to begin with, isn’t cold enough.
But hey, I’m a Terminator fan, so I’ll follow it even then!
She did say she was a different model and then ate the chip.
I’m reserving judgment until I see part 2 tonight.

No, not at all really. I don’t think of anything being too manly for a woman or vice versa. As actions don’t define a sex but more the mannerisms involved and the exaggeration of character attributes. So far so good.
This show so far isn’t too off the beaten path that scifi termie fans grew up with. Sarah Connor is just like she was in the movies (except a buttload easier to look at). A real mother, woman, experienced with weapons character. They didn’t alter her character so much that she has become the ultimate bad ass father replacement.
My only concern is the teenage Terminator as P’tit Rien says. She’s too emotional and her answers are not robotic. The thing about terminator movies is that the Good guys are always the underdogs. So she needs to be physically weaker and/or underarmed compared to SkyNet’s offerings.
I really hope they introduce a better terminator in 2007 that’s out to assassinate John because the one from 1999 was, well, pathetic. I assume we’ll get a better feel for the next one. I have a feeling they might jump years or just stay in 2007. If they do I’d like to follow the antagonist terminator and have a nice follow up.
Hopefully this series is to renew interest in the Terminator series in hopes of a new box office release.
T4 is in PRE-PROD already with Christian Bale as John Connor

I watched both and really liked it. I like how they picked up right after T2. If Summer Glau wasn’t so damn cute, I would probably have an issue with the protective terminator, but so far, pretty cool.
