WTF is up with Howard Reingold? First, he says this is an update 20 years after the original, yet the original is dated June 1992. That’s 15.5 years ago, not twenty.
Then, at the beginning of the video, he says “In the late 1980s I tried to convey a sense of the latent culture that was emerging even then, nearly 20 years before the advent of the Web.” Um. Dude, the “advent of the Web” was around 1994-95. That’s nine or fewer years before “the late 1980s,” not “almost 20 years.” Not by a long shot.
Errors like that throw the whole piece into question. (And what’s with that awful 80s synth music? Ewww!)
”come see the kittends” hahahaha!
And they are so cute
So much hostility among the atheists…
…so very, very sad.
If you are referring to Condell, that’s not hostility, that’s begin fed with being bullied by right-wing religious nutbars who would like to impose their retarded world views on everyone and cash in on the same time.
You should see his video, The Trouble with Islam:
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=HhN6CG1zCRc
Not every person of faith is a “right-wing religious nutbar…”
No but the loudest voices are and the unheard masses don’t seem to voice their opposition to these madmen, thus enabling them. Their supporters should say “Hey woe dude yer kinda insane” but they don’t.
Just like the Muslim clerics who say nothing in the face of ever growing fanaticism, they are in fact enabling them.
…so the atheist response is to belittle ALL people of faith, insulting their viewpoints, casting derision on anything they say and do because they simply can’t be trusted… after all, they believe in God.
What terribly silly, misguided, sophomoric people these religious types are…
Why not just insult their families too? Oh wait – you did that already… my bad.
Yeah pretty much. Those who believe in backward viewpoints that go against all logic, those who despite FACTS still believe their preferred reality. If you took religion out of the equation, those people would be called delusional and be medicated. And YOU the religious person would agree, but since it’s Jesus, well you call it faith.
Yeah – that’s the way to bring people together, Dave…
Seems to me that if it were any other group being lumped together like that – homosexuals, blacks, Arabs… or pick any so-called “minority” group, you’d be decrying the very positions to which you adhere as prejudicial and discriminatory… but because we’re talking about people whose beliefs differ from that of your own, then that’s ok…
Oh, the hypocrisy.
For shame.
The blacks aren’t trying to black-me-up.
The homosexuals aren’t trying to gay me up
The Arabs aren’t trying to Arab me up
And they don’t condemn me for not being in their group and if they did I would fight back.
They don’t push their group ideology on others because there is no ideology, they are what they are because of biology.
Believers, chose to believe, despite proof to the contrary. And then they try to impose their world view on others by indoctrination of youth, fear, political bullying, crusades, suicide bombings et al.
Thats not hypocrisy, that’s defending truth, freedom and ethics.
Feel free to stop ignoring my arguments at any moment now.
I never tried to push ANYTHING on you…
On the contrary, YOU are the one who decided to come to my blog and start up this whole “Holier than thou” (Pardon the expression) crap with me. Playing the condescending atheist, brow-beating a person who happens to believe in God because I expressed an interest in a Presidential candidate who supports tax reform. Oh – and that candidate is another “nutbar” religious zealot (to paraphrase your assessment of him).
Dude – I really don’t care if you don’t believe in God. As far as I’m concerned, it’s your loss.
Just stop trying to convert me to Atheism.
And before you deny that you were doing that, let me pull a quote from you on my blog: “Because I wish to take you out of Plato’s allegorical cave, no more shadows…”
I rest my case.
