Ms. Drew played directly on the sensitivities she knew would cause maximum damage to the Megan. Ms. Drew lured Megan in a way she knew would be most devastating to the child.
This wicked MOA Drew used is the exact methodology that a child predator employs to bait, lure and reel a child victim into doing their will. Child grooming was utilized over weeks and weeks to gain the child’s trust… and once trust was obtained, she exploited it into a relationship. (Another Child Predator Hallmark).
When Ms. Drew saw her bullets were hitting it’s mark, she turned up the heat. She invited others to partake in the sick, twisted mental assault on this child, keeping the pressure up. Even her business employee joined in the game.
Ms. Drew then delivered the final blow that many depressed 13 year old girls would crumble under.
She mentally raped the child and left her for dead. Better said, encouraged her for dead.
Ms. Drew remains smug and defiant about her actions - even seeks to attack this grieving family while their beloved daughter’s memory is fresh in their mind.
She has committed the unthinkable…. and doesn’t even acknowledge she abused this child.
Child Predators go to jail for their actions. Physical contact is not required for a conviction. Evidence of any kind of sexually charged grooming of a child by an adult is worthy of a charge of indecent liberties with a child…. or at the very least harassment.
If even assisted suicide is criminal intent, driving someone to it should at least qualify as something more heinous than an ordinary parking ticket.

As details about Lori Drew’s 6 week cyber-voyeur techniques emerge, I am more convinced that outing this kind of behavior is not only right, but essential. Essential? Really?
It is becoming clearer everyday that Lori Drew employed many of the same grooming techniques that child predators utilize to charm their way into gaining a child’s trust. The most significant key here is that Lori Drew spent approximately 6 full weeks baiting Megan into this trust by posing as a “cute” boy that Megan would be attracted to.
Right here, Drew utilizes the sexual stimulation that exists in male/female pair bonding in order to manipulate the 13 year old girl.
Lori Drew groomed her victim like many child predators do, enticing her with flirtation, mild sexual conversation and playing on Megan’s weakness. Lori knew that Megan had a low self esteem and was treated for depression.
There are uncanny parallels between the typical Child Predator MOA and those utilized by Lori Drew to control and manipulate Megan in the relationship Lori developed with her.
Outing Child Predators has been public policy in most states and is usually upheld under the premise that the public has a right to reasonably protect itself from criminal behavior where it exists. Families with children have a right to know when those who might prey upon their child, live nearby. Public policy dictates that if a child is exposed to potential harm from predatory activity, then parents should at least have the opportunity to be aware such harm may exist.
But what if a child predator confesses to a crime, but is never convicted? Does the potential for risk exist despite the legal process?

There seems to be a lot of emphasis on Megan being “fat” but she doesn’t look any fatter than Lori and she’s much prettier. I am a woman and I think that the emotional abuse women deal out is just as bad as the violence men deal out. Both should be acknowledged and stopped. If you don’t think women can be vicious, I think Lori Drew’s behavior proved it. She also has that “I didn’t do anything wrong” attitude that some psycho women have, even when they are abominably hurtful. Consequences would help Lori to understand, yes, she did something wrong.
The naming of Lori Drew has sparked quite a debate indeed. Some major news outlets have chosen to name the perpetrator(s) behind this story such as the New York Times. Some have chosen not to. The mainstream media however has concluded that the blogging community should shoulder the responsibility of first naming the perpetrator behind this story.
The first question I have in this debate is simple. What is new here? Since before the French Revolution, the media has been used to ‘out’ individuals who’s actions seem to bear public relevancy in some way.
Although Lori Drew has not yet been charged in the case of Megan Meier, the media has never required formal charges to be made before running a story. In the case of some journalist like Dan Rather, some media outlets run with stories before even confirming that they’re true.
In this particular case, media outlets that have chosen to withhold Lori Drew’s identity have done so in consideration of other Drew family members.
I’m wondering if by doing this, the media plans to always withhold the names of interesting persons who outrage the community, if those persons have children. This would certainly be quite a ground-breaking event
Right at this moment, there is a story of a cop who is under investigation in the strange death of one wife and the disappearance of another. The cop in the story has a family, yet the media huddles outside his home relentlessly.
I could go back and list thousands of stories where the media wasted no time in delivering the names and occupations of individuals that were later cleared of any wrong-doing. I’ve never heard of another instance where the media apologized for naming names.
Don Henley’s ‘Dirty Laundry’ certainly applies well to conduct of most major news outlets.
Lori Drew is a primary subject of the story, she is not a rape victim, and is not a minor. Identifying her breaks no new ground, nor does it deviate from what news outlets do on a daily basis.
I also remind readers that her name and her role in the Megan Meier tragedy were documented as public record. A public record that Lori filed on her own accord. This is a critically important fact in this debate.
News outlets, bloggers and the general public were handed Lori’s name and Lori’s own self admissions when she herself filed that police report and sought to elevate the entire situation into the public domain.
Had Lori Drew simply acknowledged what she did was wrong, and apologized - the police report that identified her may have never been filed, and the entire situation may have well been kept at the lowest profile.
Will we see the media write about this? Not likely.

Send the people who were involved in this a letter, with only one word written in it in large letters.
That word?
APOLOGISE.
Think about it…that is the least the perpetrators of this, can do.
Maybe send everyone who took part in Megan’s torture, a letter. A sheet of paper with just one word written or typed on it. The word is: APOLOGISE.
If enough letters were received that said APOLOGISE and nothing else, the message would be clear. Maybe it would sink in and the perps would finally feel (or show) some remorse.
Legally speaking I hope there is still some way to pursue this case in criminal court. Can the ruling be appealed? The ACTIONS should matter. You can’t rule on intent. Also the stuff about sexually explicit letters to a minor should be explored in court.
I am disguisted by the comparison of Lori Drew to Hitler and Stalin. People throw around those names so easily now days, but what they did was way beyond this incident and you trivialise it by making the comparison.
As for Megan. She killed herself and has no one else to blame. Teenagers get called names, teased, and have their hearts broken everyday for as long as there has been teens. John, I agree that what she did does not compare to someone who killed millions, but then you go to far and try to take away her responsibility completely. Even the teen girl the Drews enlisted to help edit the profile knew what they did was wrong and eventually told the Meiers. People are going harder on the Drews because they show NO remorse. It is very upsetting to anyone that reads the story of Megan. I feel the there are more people to blame here then just the juvenile acts of Lori Drew. Where we the parents of Megan while she was on a website that was not to be used by a child her age?? She was under age on this website and seems that it was known by here parents that she was on here, why were they not checking to see who she was talking to and what about. This should have been a priority especially with such a very troubled young child. With some proper parenting on the side of Tina and Ron this waste of a young Childs life could have been avoided.

Geez, the more details I hear about this case the more disturbed I am. It sounds like there is very little recourse for prosecutors, and that is understandable because I can’t imagine she wanted this young girl to be harmed physically. She obviously wanted to hurt her emotionally and I don’t think you can prove that beyond a reasonable doubt. At most this is harassment and that stinks. This woman is the personification of evil. Preying on children should be a crime in all 50 states whether it’s the sexual, physical or emotional. Hi. I’m a hogger. Some may know us as pig pusher, cow craver, or meat mover, or what have you. Anyway, I am here to stick up for Lori Drew. She may not be a supermodel, but gosh darnit, there are some of us out here who like to “fry the bacon”, ya know what I mean. I think she is a tasty lookin’ woman, and it would be such a waste to let society throw away a “perfectly good bag of leftover sausage”. I think you have every reason to stand proud and move ahead without guilt. You know as well as I do that Meagan deserved to die and you did the world a favor by causing her death. People who care about others are worthless losers and the pinnacle of human attainment is to cause death to young, innocent people without mercy, compassion or remorse. You are a true achiever and should be awarded the highest honor. You are a shining example of a human being who can cause others to suffer and rise above the pain and guilt. You are my hero!
