I wish to ask the WordPress Gods for something and I hope this doesn’t require of me some kind of animal sacrifice.
You see I love going through my dashboard interface and looking at the Top Posts from around WordPress.com to see what’s going on on other blogs I might otherwise not know about. But the problem is this. Look at the screen capture edit I made below:

All the links with an icon without a picture, or the default white silhouette, those are ALL CNN blog posts. These leads me to ask the following questions:
- Is CNN a legitimate blog? Because they can dole out anything they do not want posted as official news (a well known dumping tactic to get hits but still avoid all the ethical questions surrounding debatable is a news worthy article or not), posted as a blog?
- Is it fair play to leave such a heavy traffic ladened site on this list and not leaving room to the real bloggers out there so that we may discover them?
- They don’t really need this extra traffic coming from Dashboard, should WordPress remove them and leave the space for independent bloggers to grow?
I’m just asking these questions, because every one knows how to reach CNN.com, I would prefer if this interface was left to the “independent” bloggers, so we could better discover this ever growing community.

That’s because CNN is paying for that position.
Well they shouldn’t be there, the payers should have their own little corner and the indies their own then. Because seriously, 60% of those links CNN, Crappy News Network.
I think we can sum up why CNN needs to take a hike, with two simple words.
“Oh Noes!”
What the hell…
Good luck trying to convince Matt that. It’s come up a number of times in the support forums over the last 2 years with no response from staff.
Wow! Well I used to have my own hosted WP blog so I’m kinda new with the dashboard links. To bad about that. It would be preferable if the indies were promoted on that page. IMHO
Is it a blog or a news report?
David expresses his annoyance recently when 6 of the top 10 posts over in wp.com land were all from the CNN blogs. As I write this, there’s five posts listed in the top 10. It’s a pity that Automattic feels…
